In addition to playing a games and writing bots for IRC and unix, I have also spent time writing games for the Apple IIgs and the IBM PC. My first computer was an Apple II+, and from there I learned 6502 Assembly, then Pascal, and eventually C. A picture from the game/program and a short description of each follows. All of the IIgs games are available from me or also on ftp sites if you can find them :)
Columns is a Tetris-Style game where colored blocks fall from the top. However, instead of forming rows, your job is to match up three or more matching blocks either horizontally, vertically, or diagonally. Fast-paced, addicting, and features beautiful graphics and music by James Brookes.
Columns is available on the Apple IIgs and the IBM PC (Soundblaster recommended).

VIAD is the sequel to Columns. Similar in concept, blocks fall from the top and you must keep clearing them out before the screen gets full and the game ends. However, in VIAD each falling block contains a letter, and you must form words either horizontally, vertically, or diagonally to make the blocks disappear. Features an 18,000 word dictionary with speedy lookup, and more beautiful graphics and music by James Brookes.
VIAD is available on the Apple IIgs.

Boggled is a game in the style of Parker Brothers' Boggle game. In Boggled, you are given 3 minutes to find as many words as possible in a 4x4 grid of letters. The words must be formed by traversing a path of adjacent letters. Boggled features a 18,000 word dictionary and contains still more nifty graphics (Letter blocks by the famous Sweet Baby James Brookes).
Boggled is available on the Apple IIgs.

Letterslide is a puzzle game similar to Sokoban. In Letterslide, you are given a screen of letter blocks which you must push together to form words. However, similar to Sokoban, you may only push blocks forward - you may not "pull" them backwards! If you're not careful, you may block openings and words which you would like to form. This game requires a keen vocabulary, planning, and strategy. It also includes a letter editor so that you may build your own levels.

Pente is a board strategy game based on the Parker Brothers game of the same name. Pente is like a large tic-tac-toe. On a 20x20 size game board, the object is to get 5 stones in a row or to capture 5 of your opponents pairs. Sounds simple, but very challenging! Pente includes an AI opponent capable of searching 3 or more moves ahead for an increasing challenge. Includes three difficulty levels, and Computer vs. Human or Human vs. Human modes of play.
Pente is available on the Apple IIgs.
Before there was Macromind, or Grasp, or Hypermedia, there was SAP. SAP is an animation program for the IIgs which lets you clip out actors and scenes created with your favorite paint program, and animate them to music or digitized sound. SAP has been used to make movies for fun, to create animations used in display monitors and radio stations, to create promo's for games and programs, to give class presentations, and to just generally have a lot of fun. It may take a little while to learn how to use the program, but it is Freeware and docs and examples included.
SAP is available on the Apple IIgs for free.
